Craft Room Committee Update: Workshop will start on March 9 and meet every second Monday at 1 PM in the Craft Room

 

The ladies from the Craft Room are very busy working on an exciting project.  Making toques on round looms for the homeless.

If you are interested in joining them, the workshop starts on March 9 and will meet the second Monday of each month at 1:00 pm in the Craft Room.

 

The Craft Room will supply the looms and the yarn.  Don’t worry if you have never used a loom as they will show you how.

 

Note:  The Craft Committee has been involved in other special projects such as afghans and lap blankets that were presented to The Southwood Care Centre, which they were very happy and pleased to receive.

Our Wonderful Christmas Wonderland

Believe me when I tell you our beautiful Christmas decorations that bring us the spirit of Christmas were not from Santa, but from our own elves at Sierras of Evergreen.  Their names being Donna, Gail, Lois along with many more volunteer elves who came out to help.  What a wonderful job they did!

This year we were honoured to be presented with this beautiful family of reindeer by the Darrah and Wall Families in loving memory of Robert (Bob) Darrah who passed away on July 10, 2019. Bob was a well respected and much loved member of the Sierras where he lived for many years with his wife Eleanor.

Christmas Party 2019 Recap

The Sierras of Evergreen Christmas Party 2019 was a big success thanks to our Dinner Committee with Donna and Gail and all their volunteers who make this happen and as well as the residents, their family and guests who supported it.

Marty Antonini is always a hit with his mixture of country/pop and the dancers were out in full support.

Wine, good food and lots of dancing, sounds like a success to me.

Fall Fest Dinner and Dance

The Sierras of Evergreen Fall Fest Dinner and Dance

held on October 19. 2019.

A BIG THANK YOU to our Dinner Committee and all the volunteers who supported another great event.  After a very delicious catered Roast Beef Dinner with all the trimmings, the party began.

Music for the evening was provided by RANDY POIRIER who is one of everyone’s favourite.

By tradition, the dancing officially gets underway when our sister’s Donna and Gail take to the dance floor.

Everyone had the chance to share a very special celebration, the 60th Wedding Anniversary for Glen and Brenda Newberry.

The line dance ladies were very in sync and did a great job.

The dance floor was always in action.

 

Some were just chilling out chatting and enjoying the music.

 

Then there’s always a table of Rowdys!  Gail escaped just before the picture was taken.  Now I know why!  lol

Donations for the Christmas Craft White Elephant Sale

is now collecting donations for the

WHITE ELEPHANT SALE

which will be part of the

CHRISTMAS CRAFT SALE

held here at the Sierras of Evergreen on

Saturday, November 2, 2019.

If you have items that you wish to donate please take them to the Craft Room #142 Building C and place them under the bulletin board.

We will move the donations to a storage room up to the week of the sale.

The money collected will go to the Craft Room Committee to fund projects.

Workshop Summer Barbecue

A very successful Barbecue was held on Saturday, organized by Bill Strum and all his volunteers.  $1,610.74 was raised toward the goal of $2,500 to purchase a new Lathe for the Sierras of Evergreen Hobby Shop.

The Hobby Shop will also be participating in the Christmas Craft Sale at the Sierras of Evergreen, with many one-of-a-kind items made in the workshop and proceeds going to the purchase of the Lathe.

The Hobby Shop is open to all residents of the Sierras of Evergreen with many talented woodworking experts there to assist anyone who may not have the experience but the desire to learn.   Drop in and talk to Bill or another regular.  Bill encourages any ladies who would like to do some projects to participate as well.  Christmas is coming, so what a wonderful idea to make your own gifts.

The Barbecue

The weather was great and the sun held off even when the rain clouds threatened.  Bill explained to me what his plans were for the weather and guess what, he was right.  The food was delicious and the music got many up to dance.  The roving camera lady, being me, tried to capture all the happy faces chatting with your neighbours, family and guests, as well as the excellent dancers who loved the music.   A good time was had by all!

 

Thanks to Bill and all his volunteers who headed up the Barbecue to support the needs of the Hobby Shop.  This was just a sample of the many that assisted him.

Dennis thanked Bill and the volunteers as well as all the new residents, well over 30 of them,  who now reside at Sierras of Evergreen.  Welcome everyone!

We also got the pleasure of celebrating two beautiful ladies birthday.  Happy Birthday Linda and Gina!

Hope I got everyone in the pictures, but I am sure some escaped me. Get ready it is time to eat!

 

There’s always one in every crowd!  We love you, and next time we get you up to sing!
